Commercial Avenue in beautiful downtown Anacortes for the 3rd Annual
Anacortes Workboat Races and Pirate Faire! Saturday, August 27, 2011.

This year’s event has been expanded to a full day of fun for the whole family, starting with
a Maritime Treasure Swap Meet at 9 am, Model Boats, Steam Engine Displays, tours of
the historic tug Comanche and the yacht Norwester (formerly owned by John Wayne), a
market place with merchants, displays, great food, and live entertainment, followed by an
afternoon of main events beginning at 1 pm. Come early and stake out your seat, sample
some local fare, and enjoy our signature event’s limited edition beer, courtesy of the
Anacortes Brewery, in the Lands End Bar and Beer Garden.

Workboats competing in classes for engine size and speed will compete for top honors.
There will be Cannons, Pirate Contests for young and old, Prizes, Sea Shanties, the
Historic Tug Comanche, a Clam Chowder Challenge, a Classic Car Show, a free Evening
Concert, and Pirates Galore!!!! The race is open to all boats that have or are currently
working on the water. Put on yer eye patch and come join us if ye dare!
